KC Chiefs News: Justin Houston And Dee Ford
KC Chiefs news focuses on two Chiefs linebackers in Justin Houston and Dee Ford, both of whom are making headlines.
Justin Houston got a massive contract during the off season, and it was well deserved. Houston has continued to be that dominant outside linebacker this season, but unfortunately went down with an injury in week 12 against the Buffalo Bills.
Houston hasn’t played in a game since then, and now news has surfaced that he might be done for the rest of the regular season. The keyword there is REGULAR season. If the Chiefs can punch their ticket to the playoffs, maybe Justin Houston will be ready to go by that point.
With Houston not being available, the opportunity has arrived for Dee Ford to prove himself to this team and to the fans. Ford was a first round draft pick in the 2014 NFL Draft (23rd overall) and had done next to nothing in his first season.

Season two looked like Ford was on his way to bust-dom, but he had a nice game against the San Diego Chargers this past Sunday. Ford ended the day with three sacks on Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers, and also had seven tackles. His pass break-up at the end of the game gave the Chiefs their seventh straight victory.
Dee Ford played well in this game, but Chiefs fans shouldn’t jump to any conclusions right now. Let’s not crown him as the next great linebacker when he’s only had one good performance.
Ford really needs to step up in these next few weeks and show that he can be a consistent factor week in and week out, not just when he’s up against a third-string offensive lineman.
Here’s what FanSided.com is saying about these two guys.
KC Chiefs: Justin Houston Could Be Out For Season [Zach Blochlinger, KC Kingdom]
"Houston visiting Dr. Andrews is very concerning for the KC Chiefs. Seeing Andrews means that he and the Chiefs’ organization are fearful of severe injury, or his knee’s current condition hasn’t improved much, if at all."

"If the Chiefs are without Houston for the rest of the regular season, they can likely survive. Kansas City only has the Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns and Oakland Raiders on the schedule."

"It is fair to say that Ford has been an utter disappointment throughout his tenure in Kansas City. Ever since his embarrassing play against Frank Gore went viral last season, Ford has come under great scrutiny, especially in the run game."

Dee Ford still has a long way to go before convincing us that he’s ready to be a full-time starter and fill the void of Tamba Hali next year. The game against San Diego was nice to see though, as fans were getting ready to slap the bust label on Ford, and call it a night.

Hopefully Justin Houston’s injury isn’t as bad as it appears and he can appear in a game or two (or three) before the end of the regular season.
