Kansas City Royals: Finish Off The Blue Jays In Toronto

The Kansas City Royals scored 14 runs and buried the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 4 of the ALCS last night.

After two touchdowns and an appearance from shortstop-turned-relief pitcher Cliff Pennington, the Kansas City Royals finished yesterday one win away from a return-trip to the World Series.

They’re up 3-1, but how is important is it that the Royals finish off the Jays today?

Historically it probably doesn’t matter much if the Royals win today, Friday or in a potential Game 7 on Saturday. The odds say that the Blue Jays will not win three-of-four from the Royals given the current state of the ALCS.

But still, you don’t want to give this Toronto ball club even the slightest belief that they’re capable of pulling off a comeback.

The Royals have them against the ropes eating punches, and their knees are ready to give out.

They’re winded; they’re feeling every bump and bruise, and they’re in their corner getting what rest and medical attention you can get between rounds.

You’ve earned the opportunity to be crowned American League Champions. Now don’t expect the Jays to lie down, take what is yours.

The KC Royals need to finish off the Blue Jays before a glimmer of hope arises.

If the Jays can steal one today, they head to Kansas City as road warriors. They’re playing loose, swinging for the fences (as usual), and they’ll have nothing to lose. They become a much different team than they are trailing three games to one today.

Of course, we have complete confidence that should the Royals need a night or two in Kauffman Stadium to suffocate the Blue Jays for good, then so be it. We’ll win here, there, in the Arrowhead parking lot; it doesn’t matter.

This team continues to show an obsession with becoming World Champions, and it doesn’t appear to matter who’s in the way.

The point is that the Royals have a chance to bury a team that has all but lost its way, and they need to capitalize today.

The Jays are frustrated; they’re bullpen is fried, and they’re facing a do-or-die game today. That’s a lot of stress on any ballclub, and it’s on the Royals to break their backs today.

Stick to the routine, trust the game plan, stay the course, and the KC Royals will punch their ticket to the 2015 World Series this evening. You’ve put yourself in this position. You’ve earned the opportunity to be called American League Champions.

Now, don’t expect the Jays to lie down, take what is yours.
