If you played for the KC Royals, what song would you choose to fire up the home crowd as you strolled to the plate?

The Kansas City Royals have an impressive seven-game lead over the field in the American League and a monstrous twelve-game lead in the AL Central. Things are looking great for the Royals as they prepare for the stretch run.

It is great to see so many people filling the stands each night at Kauffman Stadium. More than two million fans have already attended home games in Kansas City this season, with a month and a half still to go.

Fans are enjoying their time in the stands, dancing and cheering all game.

Few things engage fans throughout the game better than a really fun walk-up song. Each hometown hitter picks a catchy tune to grab attention and get fans to dance and sing along. These songs vary from modern dance tunes to rock and roll classics.

It is always fun to dream. What if I played Major League Baseball for the Kansas City Royals and got to choose my walk-up song? What song would I select?

I’m an old rock and roll guy. I would want something loud and catchy, and something a lot of people would have heard and could sing along. Something to really stir the crowd up.

What about a little Judas Priest and “You’ve Got Another Thing Coming'”?

That’s pretty good, but I’m not sure just how many people are familiar with that rockin’ anthem.

How about some great head-banging action with Quiet Riot and “Bang Your Head (Metal Health)”?

Another good option to get people pumped up and sing along would be “Paradise City” by the great Guns ‘N Roses – a little more modern and a great rock tune.

All three of these songs have some terrific rock riffs and recognizable sing-along parts. If I heard any of them at the ballpark, I would belt the lyrics right along with the singers.

Which one, though would fire up the most people? Which would appeal to  the most people and help get them stirred up, not only in key situations but also during the at-bats that are more mundane, like two outs with nobody on?

Which of these songs would make you stand up and yell and sing? Which make you want dance and wave your arms, and get even more involved in the game?

Which song would fire you up?

The Royals will hopefully have many more great moments into September and the playoffs like they did on Sunday night, when they tied the game with the Angels in the ninth inning, then won it 4-3 in the tenth.

With finishes like that, it won’t take much to fire up the great fans of the KC Royals as the team looks to make its second-straight appearance in the World Series.
