Royals Rumors: Royals Should Trade For Jeff Samardzija

Samardzija is front-line material that could cost the Royals less than a Johnny Cueto or a Cole Hamels, while still providing a solid return for this 2015 run. He’s not an ace (there are maybe ten true aces in the MLB), but he’s a veteran pitcher with a proven track record.
I wouldn’t trade an elite asset (Mondesi, Jr., Zimmer, Almonte, Manaea, etc.), but I’d be open to giving up a pair of good prospects.
When we’re coming down the home stretch in September, the Kansas City Royals are going to need dogs – guys who are about competing and about winning. Samardzija is exactly that. The #Royals have had five guys who have had MVP type seasons so far in 2015.
Samardzija is on a 1-year/$9.8 million contract and is set to become a free agent this off season so he’d be an easy addition to this team and could hopefully lead our Kansas City Royals to their second straight World Series.
