Top 64 Seasons In Kansas City Sports History

facebooktwitterreddit

Readers will have the chance to vote on their favorite all-time Kansas City sports seasons by the Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals, Kansas Jayhawks, Missouri Tigers, Kansas State Wildcats, and Sporting Kansas City.

Brackets are all the rage these days, so we at KC Kingdom decided to try one we hadn’t seen before: A 64-season bracket challenge of Kansas City sports over the years including the Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals, Kansas Jayhawks, Missouri Tigers, Kansas State Wildcats and Sporting Kansas City.

Over the next few weeks we will bring to you bracket match-ups that you, as readers, can vote on until the most successful Kansas City sports season of all-time is crowned KC Champion.

The selection committee members (i.e. KC Kingdom editors) Joel Wagler, Leigh Oleszczak and myself narrowed the field to 64, and unfortunately had to leave out some great seasons — there are no play-in games here.

The bracket, which will be partially announced on this site Monday (and fully revealed Tuesday), will include seasons from the above teams covered on this site, but some might surprise you.

(Let’s just say there are a few from so long ago, there isn’t a person on Earth who would remember a thing about them).

Most readers of this site all root for the professional KC teams, but when it comes to colleges, not so much. That’s what will make this fun.

A match-up may include the 2007-08 KU basketball team, versus the 1998 K-State football team.

What happens when your loyalty for Mizzou clashes with your passion for the Royals?

One way or another you will decide the best sports seasons in Kansas City history. The bracket challenge starts Monday, July 13 and concludes the first week of August.

Winners of each match-up come via fan vote (which we know Kansas City fans excel in) through polls for each “game.” Instructions on how long voting will last will be included in each match-up story, and results will be posted once voting is complete.

So, vote early and vote often. Tell your friends, and even enemies, to take part.

We hope you enjoy this, and, who knows, maybe even help pull an upset or two.

Check back Monday morning to begin voting on the first half of Round 1, and again Tuesday when the final 16 match-ups are ready to go.

It might not be March, but let the KC Madness begin!
