KC Royals Select Pitchers With First Three Picks In MLB Draft

Dayton Moore has yet to draft and develop a good starting pitcher through the amateur draft. If you’re looking at the current stable of Royals pitchers, Yordano Ventura was an international signing, and Danny Duffy is far from being considered a success story.
I suppose there are two different ways of looking at this. One, don’t get too excited about Russell or Watson as the Royals have repeatedly shown they cannot draft/develop starting pitching effectively.
Or, the other way of looking at it is that eventually the Kansas City Royals have to Forrest Gump their way into a starting pitcher selection this is apparently immune to their poor developmental strategies.
In attempt to close this piece out on a positive note, the Royals boast the most active first round selection position players within their division–Eric Hosmer, Mike Moustakas, Alex Gordon, Christian Colon, and *Alex Rios.
The next closest is the Minnesota Twins with four, all home grown–Joe Mauer, Trevor Plouffe, Torii Hunter and Aaron Hicks.
*Not drafted by Royals.
