KC Chiefs Sign Guard Paul Fanaika

According to Herbie Teope the KC Chiefs have signed former Arizona Cardinals guard Paul Fanaika. Fanaika spent the 2013 and 2014 seasons with the Cardinals. He started all 16 games of the 2013 season and started 14 games of the 2014 season with the cardinals.
Fanaika spent his college career playing at Arizona State and was drafted in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Andy Reid led Philadelphia Eagles. He was unable to make the final roster and was cut by the team. Soon after being cut he was re-signed to the Eagles practice squad.

Midway through the 2009 season the Washington Redskins signed him off of the Eagles practice squad. He never played in a game for the Redskins and they released him after the season on June, 14th 2010.
The Cleveland Browns claimed him off of waivers, but released him before the start of the 2010 season. He was then signed to the Browns practice squad.
Fanaika was once again poached off a practice squad midway through the season. This time the Seattle Seahawks signed him off of the Browns practice squad. He spent the remainder of the 2010 season and the 2011 season with the Seahawks. He was able to play in three games during the 2011 season for the Seahawks, which was his first live game action since he was drafted in 2009.
In April of 2013 he signed with the Arizona Cardinals and was able to play and start in all 16 regular season games that year. In 2014 Fanaika started 14 games including the Cardinals 17-14 win over the KC Chiefs.
The KC Chiefs made a big splash earlier on Wednesday by signing former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin but they lost out on center Rodney Hudson as he signed with the AFC West division rival Oakland Raiders.

Expect this to be the first of many moves to improve the offensive line. The move makes sense given that Andy Reid was the one who drafted him so he has knowledge of him. Fanaika was also part of a pretty decent offensive line the last two years in Arizona.
He is a big man that won’t be easy to move, coming in at 6″5′ tall and 327 pounds. He is a very capable run blocker and can fill holes in pass defense but as his size may tell you, he is not a very quick guy out in space.
