2015 NFL Mock Draft: KC Chiefs Focus On Offense Early

Some people might not like that I focused mostly on offense in this draft, but hey… With an atrocious offensive line and poor wide receivers in 2014, can you really blame me?
My biggest goal in this mock draft was to boost the offensive line and the receiving corps and I feel I did that in the first four rounds. Andrus Peat and Josue Matias can join the offensive line and prevent Alex Smith from getting sacked as much. Devin Funchess and Devin Smith (Devin squared) can help Alex Smith out with getting some touchdowns and wiping that ugly “no wide receiver touchdown” off the board.
B.J. Finney is one of those iffy cases because we’re not sure what’s going to happen with Rodney Hudson yet. I sure hope Hudson stays with the Chiefs, but you just never know. Drafting Finney gives Eric Kush a reliable back up, should he either get injured or not perform well at center.
The last two picks were to fill needs on defense: cornerback and inside linebacker. You don’t know for sure what you’re going to get with a late round draft pick, but the Chiefs saw some success from sixth round selection Zach Fulton last season. Maybe local guy JaCorey Shepherd will come through and prove his worth, and maybe Curtis Grant will show he’s capable of being a great inside linebacker.
The 2015 NFL Draft starts on Thursday, April 30th with the first round that night, the second and third rounds on Friday, May 1st, and the rest of the rounds on Saturday, May 2nd.
