Wide Receivers

Okay, look. I personally find the whole “Chiefs wide receiver hasn’t caught a touchdown pass in one year, 12 days, 5 hours, and 27 minutes” stat funny. In fact, I kind of hope the Chiefs close out the regular season not having thrown a touchdown pass to a wide receiver.

Regardless of my strange sense of humor, the wide receivers for the Chiefs aren’t good. I recently went on about how Donnie Avery needs to go, but he’s not the only one under performing. It’s pretty sad that a Chiefs receiver hasn’t had a 100-yard reception game once this season. Junior Hemingway and A.J. Jenkins haven’t done squat for this team and it’s annoying.

There were a lot of dropped passes in this game, which wasn’t too surprising and that’s quite sad that Chiefs fans now expect that of their wide receivers.

On the plus side, Albert Wilson has been impressive and is arguably this team’s best receiver after Dwayne Bowe. Jason Avant has also been a nice pick up and I would be more than okay with these three leading the way next season with either a drafted guy or big name free agent as the number one or two guy (depending on where Bowe is).

In other words, cheer up friends! Next year’s group of wide receivers will hopefully be more impressive and can grab at least two touchdowns on the year. That’d be a huge improvement from this year.
