Kansas Jayhawks recruiting rumors continue to swirl as the Jayhawks await the decisions of top recruits Jaylen Brown and Cheick Diallo
The Kansas Jayhawks seem to be in a wait-and-see mode as two of the top basketball recruits, Jaylen Brown and Cheick Diallo, make their decisions on where to play their one year of college basketball next season.
Bill Self and the Jayhawks are waiting on Jaylen Brown and Cheick Diallo to announce their school of choice. Once those players decide, there will probably be a feeding frenzy for whatever quality players remain unsigned.
[EDITOR’S NOTE: CHEICK DIALLO COMMITTED TO KANSAS ON TUESDAY!]
According to Scout.com’s Evan Daniels, Jaylen Brown has narrowed his choice to five schools, including Kansas, Kentucky, and North Carolina.
The latest from 247 Sports Crystal Ball predictions has Kansas with only a 5% chance of landing Brown, although these predictions are not up to date, since they include UCLA and Georgia. Both of those schools have been recently eliminated, according to Daniels.
Kansas would be a great fit for Brown, as he could replace the departed Kelly Oubre. The Jayhawks have Devonte’ Graham and Brannen Greene as options to start next to Frank Mason and Wayne Selden in the back court , but Brown would have an opportunity to beat out these lettermen, who have been role players thus far in their careers.
Cheick Diallo may make his decision as early as Tuesday, according to some reports. Adam Zagoria, basketball insider on ZagsBlog, thinks Diallo is very close to making an announcement.
Zagoria thinks it is down to Kansas or Kentucky for Diallo’s services.
Also sounds like @cheick_diallo13 will land at Kansas or Kentucky, per sources. Kid is special. Was MVP of McDonald's & Jordan Games.

Cheick Diallo, of course, could fill the spot vacated by Cliff Alexander. While Alexander was a bit of a disappointment, he did not fully get the chance to develop while at Kansas. Between uneven play, and the NCAA investigation, Alexander never seemed to get comfortable.

Diallo could be a great physical compliment to Perry Ellis on the interior, who is more of a finesse player.
The 247 Sports Crystal Ball has Kansas with a 34% chance of wrangling Diallo.
According to ESPN’s Top 100, Jaylen Brown is currently ranked fourth and Cheick Diallo seventh. If Bill Self could pull in both, even for one year, and combine them with the roster already returning, the Kansas Jayhawks should once again be a top ten team next season.
Self will be scramble mode if he gets neither. There will only be two other Top 100 players unsigned, and Kansas is on neither list for those players. If Diallo goes elsewhere, Self could go after Georgios Papagainnis, a seven-foot Greek.
Mike Thorne Jr, a senior transfer from Charlotte with immediate eligibility, is also a possibility.
Whether or not the one-and-dones are good for college programs long-term is a debate for another time, but if Self loses out on both of these players, mabe it will be a sign that he should look for more stability in his recruiting.
Wisconsin made it to the NCAA Tournament Championship game without any one-and-done players. The Kansas Jayhawks basketball team and Bill Self could look to do that too, sometime in the future.
