The Kansas City Chiefs advanced their record to a perfect 4-0 Sunday afternoon, beating the AFC West division rival Las Vegas Raiders 30-27. Unfortunately, for all the good vibes KC has going into an early Week 5 Bye, this victory did not come without its sacrifices.
Rashee Rice, who had been improving game by game, left the matchup early in the first half after pulling up to the sidelines from what appeared to be a hamstring injury. While it did not look all that serious, Rice was soon ruled out for the game. A couple of weeks without a game may be enough for him to recover and not miss any more time. But hamstrings are not something you want to rush back from.
Even worse was the injury suffered by Tyquan Thornton, who at that point in the game was having a career-best performance. After scoring two touchdowns of his own in the game, Thornton was Mahomes trusted man downfield once again, catching a game-altering 55-yard bomb to set the Chiefs up for the first of two Kenneth Walker III touchdowns.

However, due to a hip drop tackle by Raiders rookie safety Treydan Stukes, Thornton's left ankle got caught up and presumably dislocated. It's unknown the timeline to recover, but chances are we won't be seeing Thornton on the field until next season, which is just truly sad for a guy who was coming into his own.
Kansas City needs Tyreek Hill now more than ever, after injuries to Rashee Rice and Tyquan Thornton leave the receiver room barren
But as all things in the NFL move quickly, this receiver situation with the Chiefs is no different. In a room that was already lacking proven talent, they are now down two key bodies for an undetermined amount of time.

Which brings up the idea that has long been brewing amongst Chiefs fans, and that is reuniting with star wideout Tyreek Hill. Kansas City traded Hill during the 2022 offseason in return for a bevy of draft picks that fueled back-to-back Super Bowl trophies.
Now, in a new iteration of the Chiefs, with Hill recently being released by the Miami Dolphins as well as coming off a gruesome leg injury himself, all signs are beginning to point toward the two sides reaffirming their loyalty. Before Hill left for the year, he looked and played like the Tyreek Hill we've known for years. Elite speed, lateral quickness, and most importantly, the ability to separate versus man coverage.
It would be unfair to expect the Hill of old after not knowing what he looks like after multiple surgeries. But if he is even 70-80 percent of what he used to be, that would be a welcome addition to a wide-out room, bereft of talent.
