Former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill is looking for a new home and hinted recently on social media that a reunion with quarterback Patrick Mahomes and company during their resurgent 2026 season might be ideal.
Hill authored an eight-word message via X on Wednesday, September 30, that reignited rumors of a potential return to Kansas City, which have hovered around the NFL in one form or another since the Miami Dolphins released the wideout this past offseason.
I think I’m ready for some cold weather

"I think I'm ready for some cold weather," Hill wrote.
Cold weather in the coming months is far from exclusive to Kansas City, which has led to some speculation that Hill could be considering a run with a team like the Green Bay Packers, who just lost wideout Jayden Reed for the season to a neck injury, or the New York Giants after they dismissed Odell Beckham Jr. three weeks into his comeback attempt.
Tyreek Hill returning to Chiefs makes most sense due to connection with Patrick Mahomes
Still, the most sensible and symmetrical move for Hill feels like a low-cost, high-value recombining of force with the Chiefs' offense.
At 32 years old and coming off a torn ACL and knee dislocation early in the 2025 season, Hill may never again be the explosive speed threat he was when he and Mahomes were tearing up the league around the turn of the 2010s into the 2020s.
That said, Kansas City could use another pass-catcher alongside Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy, even with tight end Travis Kelce producing something of a career renaissance of his own thus far.
Hill is an eight-time Pro Bowler and five-time All-Pro selection who has led the NFL in yards per touch three times over his 10-year career. He had an undeniable chemistry with Mahomes that should be at least theoretically retrievable, and in less time than it would take to establish anything similar with the likes of a player such as Jordan Love in Green Bay, for example.
Hill has also marveled publicly in recent weeks at Mahomes' ability to bounce back so quickly from his own ACL tear, which the QB suffered in December and from which he was able to return nine months to the day for a Week 1 start (and win) over the Denver Broncos at Arrowhead Stadium
For his career, Hill has produced nearly 11,400 receiving yards and 83 touchdowns on 819 catches. Spotrac projects his market value at two years and roughly $30 million, though he is likely available for considerably less on a one-year contract in a place like Kansas City, where Hill can potentially play his way into a new multi-season deal by showing he's fully healthy and can still be productive.
