Xavier Worthy Projected for Huge Rookie Season by Betting Odds

Sportsbooks expect a relatively big year for Chiefs' first-round WR Xavier Worthy, who has a surprisingly high projection for receiving yards despite being in a moderately crowded position group.

Hollywood Brown and Rashee Rice, pending his potential suspension, figure to lead the room with Travis Kelce leading all pass-catchers. Justin Watson, Skyy Moore, Kadarius Toney, and Isiah Pacheco will get targets too, limiting the possible stats Worthy could put up.

Nonetheless, DraftKings Sportsbook expects Worthy to be one of the NFL's most productive rookie receivers. Take a look at his projections from the betting odds below.

Xavier Worthy Receiving Yards Over/Under Indicates Huge Year is Coming

You can find these odds at DraftKings. A $10 bet on the over at +140 odds would profit $14, while you'd need to bet $17.50 on the under to profit $10.

If I'm being honest, I did not expect Worthy's receiving yards total to be this high. Rashee Rice had the best rookie WR year under Andy Reid that any Chief has ever had and still only had 938, giving Worthy a small window to hit this window.

That being said, the former Longhorns star has every opportunity to reach great heights. He averaged just over 918 receiving yards in three years at Texas and should have a decent-sized role as a downfield threat. Even still, Rice was the only Chiefs' WR last year to have over 460 yards.

Worthy is already dealing with an injury and while I'm not concerned, the idea of him suffering an injury is worth consideration. He's undersized and hamstring injuries tend to linger, though the coaching staff has massive expectations for the rookie regardless.

If Worthy hits the over on this projection, he'll be a slam-dunk first-round pick. Sportsbooks clearly think he was a 'Worthy' draft pick and I can't wait to see what he does in a Chiefs uniform.
