Chiefs Coach Makes Stunning Xavier Worthy-Tyreek Hill Comparison
By Joe Summers
The Chiefs found the perfect player to fill the Tyreek Hill role, trading up in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft to snag Texas WR Xavier Worthy.
With a record-setting 4.23 40-yard dash, Worthy brings rare speed to Kansas City's receiver group and should complement Hollywood Brown, Rashee Rice and Travis Kelce effectively. If you let special teams coordinator Dave Toub explain it, Worthy is a lot more similar to Hill than fans may realize.
It's unclear if Worthy will play on special teams, but Toub certainly hopes he does.

Worthy's most notable accomplishments come as a receiver, but he's equally as dangerous in the return game. In 2023, Worthy had 22 returns for 371 yards (16.9 yards per return) and a TD. His game-changing speed alongside Toub's creative return schemes should make the first-rounder a dangerous threat.
At the very least, the Chiefs have one of the more unique threats available in the draft class. Whether or not Worthy compares favorably to Hill is irrelevant - he's valuable nonetheless.
It's obvious that the coaching staff isn't concerned about outsized expectations. Hill is one of the best weapons in the NFL, so to compare Worthy to him before he even steps on a practice field understandably creates some pressure.
Based on these comments though, the Chiefs believe Worthy is up to the task. They traded up for him and now hope his feet are big enough for large shoes, so we'll see what tricks Andy Reid and company have up their collective sleeve.
