Xavier Worthy Reveals Target Playing Weight for Rookie Season
The Kansas City Chiefs are the team that everyone in the league is looking to catch up to. This club has won two straight Super Bowl titles with eyes on locking down their third.
The Chiefs don't have many holes on the roster but the biggest one was certainly at wide receiver. In the offseason, they parted ways with Marquez Valdes-Scantling before signing Marquise Brown in free agency.
They continued to bolster the wide receiver crew by selecting Xavier Worthy with the 28th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
People have questioned Worthy's size entering the league, but he addressed what weight he plans on playing at in 2024.
Chiefs News: Xavier Worthy Aims to Play at 175 Pounds in 2024
At the NFL scouting combine Worthy weighed in at 165 pounds, which is certainly light for the NFL. The California native is known for game-breaking speed that can easily take the top off a defense.
He turned the heads of everyone in the NFL after he ran a record-breaking 4.21-second 40-yard dash. Although he's a burner, Worthy can still run the full route tree.
In his three seasons at the University of Texas, Worthy reeled in 197 receptions for 2,755 receiving yards, and 26 touchdowns.
As Worthy said, you have to play to your strengths and that's what he plans to do. He does need to add some weight to his lean frame because playing in the NFL is a different beast.
Worthy understands that and plans to add some muscle before the start of the season. The Chiefs have had success with speedy WRs in the past (Tyreek Hill) so snagging Worthy was right up their alley.
