5. Kadarius Toney - WR

Perhaps no player has a wider range of outcomes than the volatile Kadarius Toney, who will be a free agent after this year. Last season was a nightmare for the former first-round pick, who was a healthy scratch in the playoffs amid strange drama involving his social media usage.

It sounds like the Chiefs are preparing to move on, but the organization still speaks glowingly of his talent and he's showcased uncanny shiftiness with the ball in his hands. The trouble, of course, has been getting it there, as Toney infamously struggled with drops in 2023.

Players go through rough patches all the time. It's possible this was just a blip in the radar for Toney but he's never proven to be consistent or reliable in his career. The best version of the Chiefs involves a productive Toney, though that may be a fleeting wish at this point.

Toney's value on special teams is obvious, and I'm curious if Dave Toub will utilize him as a kick returner given the new rules. If Rashee Rice winds up suspended, Toney could have an opportunity to make an impact early in the season.

I'm not willing to give up on Toney yet but it's getting harder. Not only does he have plenty to prove to the Chiefs, but he needs to show he belongs on a roster moving forward at all. This is a special talent, here's hoping he delivers in 2024-25.
