Surprise Good News Emerges Following Isiah Pacheco’s Surgery
The news has been flowing from Chiefs camp all week long. Kansas City is currently 2-0 after two weeks but it hasn't been all positive news.
Running back Isiah Pacheco suffered a fractured fibula that will force him to miss an extended period of time.
On Wednesday, head coach Andy Reid spoke with reporters and said the team couldn't provide a timeline for Pacheco's return. But we know news can change quickly in the NFL. Just a few hours later, there was some positive news regarding Pacheco's injury timeline.
Chiefs News: Isiah Pacheco Underwent Successful Surgery
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Pacheco underwent successful surgery in Charlotte. There were no complications or no ligament problems so his timeline remains between six-to-eight weeks.
There were rumors that Pacheco could have missed the entire season, but now it appears he has a chance to return in late October or early November. In the meantime, the Chiefs signed Kareem Hunt to the practice squad and added Keaontay Ingram to the active roster ahead of the Week 3 tilt against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday Night Football.
They have a nice collection of ball carriers in the backfield to help weather the loss of Pacheco. The Rutgers product is an integral part of the offense when he's on the field. In 33 games in Kansas City, he's logged 409 carries for 1,900 yards, and 13 touchdowns. Pacheco has also added 428 receiving yards.
Kansas City owns a dynamic duo at head coach and quarterback with Reid and Patrick Mahomes. They'll find a way to keep the offense effective in Pacheco's absence and it starts on Sunday.
Even with Pacheco out, the Chiefs are 3.5-point favorites over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday Night Football according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
