Andy Reid Gives Bleak Update on Isiah Pacheco's Chiefs Return Timeline
The Kansas City Chiefs are currently 2-0 after they had a dramatic win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2. Even though they secured a big-time win over an AFC foe, they still were hit with a massive injury.
Running back Isiah Pacheco suffered a fractured right fibula and is going to miss an extended period of time. That led to the Chiefs signing Kareem Hunt to the practice squad. Even though they have Hunt in the picture, head coach Andy Reid wasn't able to give a real timeline for Pacheco's return.
Chiefs News: Isiah Pacheco’s Return Is up in the Air
Reid was speaking with reporters on Wednesday and revealed that the team can't provide a timetable for Pacheco's return.
"I can’t give you a timetable for his return. We’ll just see whether it’s this season or next season."
- Andy Reid
That isn't an ideal answer if you're a Chiefs fan. Pacheco is an effective and explosive weapon in the backfield but Kansas City will have to manage without him. He's going to have surgery this week and was expected to miss at least six weeks according to ESPN and NFL Network.
Hopefully, the Chiefs can get him back towards the tail end of the season but we'll have to wait and see how his recovery goes.
In the meantime, Kansas City will lean on Hunt, Carson Steele, and Samaje Perine. They'll get their first chance to showcase what they can do with more opportunities starting on Monday Night Football against the Atlanta Falcons.
Despite Pacheco being sidelined, the Chiefs are still 3.5-point favorites according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
