If the Chiefs have a wide receiver in mind with their first pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, they may now be forced to trade up if there's a specific player Brett Veach covets.

Buffalo traded away star WR Stefon Diggs to Houston and is now overwhelmingly favored to draft a receiver in the first round (-240 odds at FanDuel). The Bills have the 28th pick while the Chiefs are at 32, increasingly the likelihood that Buffalo swoops one of Kansas City's targets from under their feet.

It's possible Veach has his eyes set on a different position, though it's certainly in the realm of possibility that he trades in front of the Bills like he did to snag All-Pro CB Trent McDuffie two years ago.

Chiefs May Need to Trade Up if They Want a WR in NFL Draft

Veach has been aggressive in trading up when he's determined to get a player. Teams like the Cowboys, Packers, Buccaneers or Cardinals, all of whom pick consecutively in front of the Bills, could be logical trade partners if necessary.

This is a talent-rich WR class with guys like Texas' Adonai Mitchell frequently mocked to Kansas City. After signing 1,000-yard speedster Hollywood Brown, the Chiefs can wait until the second round if they like the depth in the class.

I had the organization taking Florida standout Ricky Pearsall in my most recent mock draft, but it all depends on who is available once names start flying off the board.

Buffalo seems set to take a WR, though it'd be a perfect final nail in the Bills' coffin if Veach were able to pull off another heist. We'll keep you updated on any draft rumors as they becoming available in the coming weeks leading up to the big night.
