Cryptic Rashee Rice Injury Report Has Chiefs Fans Confused
By Cem Yolbulan
Ever since Rashee Rice exited the Chiefs' Week 4 matchup against the Chargers in the first quarter, the only thing on Chiefs fans' minds has been his return timetable. The initial prognosis wasn't promising as many feared an ACL tear. The replay of the injury and the fact that he was ruled out so quickly had Chiefs fans fearing the worst.
The developments since then have been less than revealing. In the early afternoon on Monday, head coach Andy Reid said Rice had to undergo further testing but shied away from ruling him out for anything beyond Week 5.
On Monday evening, NFL insider Adam Schefter provided a cryptic update that left Chiefs fans even more confused.
Chiefs News: Uncertainty Remains Over Rashee Rice's Injury
Schefter reported that further testing was done on Rice's knee but more will be needed to fully determine the severity of the injury. It sounds like there are disagreements and differing opinions on the injury.
The most fascinating part of it all is that Schefter said "No answers are expected until next week."
This can be interpreted in a variety of ways. An optimist would say that this is a good sign that he isn't being ruled out for the season. Yet, a pessimist would point to Browns running back Nick Chubb from last year where initial tests showed an MCL injury but was later revealed that it was an MCL, ACL, and meniscus injury at once.
It is impossible to know at this point. There will be second and third opinions throughout the week before determining a treatment plan. The only thing we know, however, is that Chiefs fans are anxious and confused.
