Star Chiefs defensive lineman Chris Jones suffered another apparent injury at Monday's practice, tweaking his shoulder after missing time earlier in training camp with a separate ailment.

Head coach Andy Reid didn't seem concerned about the issue. Jones isn't expected to miss significant time, and it sounds overwhelmingly likely that he'd be able to play if Kansas City happened to have a game on Sunday.

Regardless, this marks the second injury of training camp for Chris Jones. It's a situation to monitor even if all indications suggest it's nothing serious.

Chiefs News: DT Chris Jones Suffers Another Training Camp Injury

Considering that Jones played at an All-Pro level in 2023 despite missing all of training camp, I wouldn't look too concerned either. The Chiefs have the end of the week off with their first preseason game on Saturday, so Jones could be taking an opportunity to get some extra days of rest without causing a whirlwind.

If Reid doesn't think it's a problem, Chiefs fans shouldn't either. Jones is the consummate professional with a resume that speaks for itself. It's alright if he misses some practices provided everyone is on the same page.

He's likely already cemented a Hall of Fame career, winning four Super Bowls with instrumental roles in each. The Chiefs' truly concerning injuries deal with different players, as Justin Reid is still on the sidelines, for example.

Even Patrick Mahomes made fun of Jones' request to take some practices off in training camp. It's quite hot in St. Joseph, Missouri, and Jones has no need for such mundane camp periods. Barring reported concern from the coaching staff, the Chiefs' defensive leader appears to be just fine despite the practice designation.
