Chris Jones Signals Support for Chiefs to Add Surprise All-Pro WR
By Joe Summers
It's no secret that the Chiefs need to improve the wide receiver room heading into next season. We've seen Kansas City tied to guys like Mike Evans and even Stefon Diggs, but now a new name is being thrown into the mix.
Former NFL QB and current analyst Robert Griffin III posted on social media that the Chiefs should sign former All-Pro wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and Chris Jones, who still has his own contract negotiations to work out, signaled his support for the potential addition as well.
Could Beckham Jr. be the solution to Kansas City's problems?
Chiefs Free Agency: Chris Jones Supports Signing Odell Beckham Jr.
Kansas City led the NFL in dropped passes (44) this year and Beckham Jr. is famous for his reliable hands. He caught only 35 passes for 565 yards and three TDs in 14 games this year, though that receiving total would've ranked second among Chiefs receivers behind only Rashee Rice.
Jones retweeted the above post from Griffin, and we've seen him show support for the Chiefs to sign players on social media in the past, notably with his efforts to get Frank Clark back in Kansas City.
While Beckham Jr. is not the game-changing talent he once was, he still routinely ranks among the league leaders in drop percentage and can make the spectacular circus catches that defined the early portion of his career.
There haven't been any reports that the Chiefs are in discussions with Beckham Jr., though you can bet Brett Veach will do his homework. If the former New York Giant wants another chance at a Super Bowl ring like he got with the Rams, Kansas City might be the perfect place to go.
