We've spent much of the season concerned about the Chiefs' potential ability to keep star defenders Chris Jones and L'Jarius Sneed. Perhaps those concerns were unfounded, as the NFL announced Friday an unprecedented salary cap jump for the 2024-25 season.

Each team will gain an additional $30 million for the salary cap, making it significantly easier to offer large contracts to deserving players.

Can the Chiefs keep both Jones and Sneed? It turns out they can.

Chiefs Free Agency: Salary Cap Rises $30 Million in Stunning Announcement

Before any cuts or contract restructures, the Chiefs were projected to have around $23 million in available cap space. That's obviously not enough given the long list of free agents Brett Veach has to make decisions on, but an extra $30 million certainly gives Kansas City enough space to keep the core group together.

it was already theoretically feasible to keep maybe the two best defenders on the Super Bowl-winning team, but now it's possible without even using a franchise tag.

Important players like Drue Tranquill and Mike Danna could benefit from the news as well. Make no mistake, the rest of the NFL should be terrified.

Of course, every team gets the same amount of space, so other organizations could theoretically offer even more money. We'll see how this all plays out, though this is massive, excellent news for Chiefs fans ready to hoist a third straight Lombardi Trophy.
