Chiefs Take Swing on 1,000-Yard Receiver With Free Agent Signing
By Joe Summers
The Chiefs were busy in the hours immediately after the 2024 NFL Draft, making a flurry of undrafted free-agent signings and picking up some exciting players in the process.
One player who hopes to compete for the 53-man roster is James Madison WR Reggie Brown, a First-Team All-Sun Belt honoree who put up over 1,000 yards in 2023. The only receive Kansas City drafted was Texas speedster Xavier Worthy in the first round, and it's no secret that the team needed upgrades across the board.
With so much uncertainty at the position, it's possible for Brown to push for a roster spot and at the least, inclusion on the practice squad.
Chiefs News: KC Signs Undrafted Free Agent WR Reggie Brown
In 13 games this year, Brown had 53 catches for 1,054 yards (19.9 YPC) and nine TDs. He had 202 receiving yards against Connecticut with four games over 100 yards and nine contests over 50 yards during his strong season.
The 6'1", 195 LB receiver competes well at the catch point with the speed to attack downfield. With few established threats at the position in Kansas City, Brown should have every opportunity to leave his mark.
Worthy, Hollywood Brown, Rashee Rice, Justin Watson, Skyy Moore, and Kadarius Toney feel like strong contenders to make the roster, though Rice will likely be suspended to start the season. Moore and Toney have done little to separate themselves and have both dealt with injuries, making the decision to give Reggie Brown a look logical.
We'll see what kind of impact the former James Madison star can make on the Chiefs, but I'm excited to find out.
