The Chiefs' draft positions have changed slightly based on a punishment doled out to the San Francisco 49ers, as Kansas City will now rise one spot in the fourth round.

This returns the Chiefs' fourth-round selection to its original placement after a tweak in the compensatory pick formula pushed it down one spot, to 132nd.

While not a major impact, Brett Veach has done great work in the major rounds, and sometimes even one spot can mean the difference between a contributor and a bust.

Chiefs Benefit From 49ers' Draft Pick Punishment

We know the Chiefs have several major needs as they fill out the roster, though Veach has done an excellent job in keeping a majority of the players that helped win a Super Bowl last year.

Chris Jones is back and the only major question marks remaining are left tackle and L'Jarius Sneed's ongoing trade negotiations.

Most believe that Kansas City will take a wide receiver in the first round, though offensive and defensive lines both remain options as well. The Chiefs have the luxury of taking the best player available after bringing in Hollywood Brown, so there's no pressure on Veach to target one specific player early.

Now with a full seven picks and relatively enviable draft positioning, I expect Kansas City to bring at least one key contributor into the organization in the draft next month.
