Betting odds have indicated for weeks now that the Chiefs were favored to select a wide receiver with their first pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, kicking off Thursday night in Detroit.

In the last 24 hours, however, odds have undergone a dramatic shift and now indicate that Kansas City appears locked in on taking an offensive lineman when it's their turn on the clock. This tracks with reporting on Wednesday that the Chiefs want BYU offensive tackle Kingsley Suamataia, though there are several potential fits that could be available at pick No. 32.

Of course, there's always the possibility that Brett Veach executes a trade as well. Check out the latest odds below.

Betting Odds Shift Dramatically to Favor an Offensive Lineman to Chiefs in NFL Draft

Entering March, wide receiver was +125 to be the position of the Chiefs' first draft pick while offensive lineman was +200. That means a $10 bet on wide receiver would profit $12.50 and a $10 bet on offensive lineman would profit $20.

As of Thursday morning, offensive lineman is now -125 and wide receiver is +105. You'd thus have to bet $12.50 to profit $10 on offensive lineman. At the very least, it looks like Kansas City is zeroed in on one of those two positions.

Players like Amarius Mims, Troy Fautanu, Taliese Fuaga, Olumuyiwa Fashanu, and Suamataia could all be options. Though a wide receiver like Xavier Worthy, Xavier Legette, or Adonai Mitchell might be tempting as well.

It's generally accepted that offensive tackle, a position of need for the Chiefs, experiences a big drop-off after the first round. Wide receiver, on the other hand, is a deep position in this draft class and Kansas City should be able to find impact players in later rounds.

I believe that a scenario like the one I laid out in my second mock draft, which had the Chiefs going tackle in the first round and receiver in the second, is the most likely outcome.

We'll find out this evening either way and I can't wait to see who the newest member of our Kansas City Chiefs will be.
