The Chiefs followed up a busy Tuesday by making a second surprise addition to the practice squad, re-signing TE Peyton Hendershot just one day after waiving him.

Kansas City just reunited with RB Kareem Hunt in the biggest news of the day, so Hendershot's addition may go under the radar. Since two players were added to the practice squad, we can expect a pair of corresponding moves to come shortly as well.

Hendershot grew notoriety by drawing a fine while protecting QB Patrick Mahomes in the Week 1 victory over the Ravens. Now, he's back on the team after clearing waivers.

Chiefs Re-Sign TE Peyton Hendershot After Waiving Him

Given that the Chiefs already have Travis Kelce, Noah Gray, and Jared Wiley, it's unlikely that Hendershot makes any kind of real impact in the 2024-25 season barring injury.

Since Hendershot was not on the active roster for five games, Kansas City will keep the conditional seventh-round pick they initially traded for him. Once again, Brett Veach has his cake and eats it too.

Hendershot only has 141 receiving yards so far in his NFL career, though he put up 1,479 yards at Indiana along with 14 TDs. He's a wise player to invest developmental resources in and we'll see what he can do with some time in the system.

Following the injuries to Hollywood Brown and Isiah Pacheco, the Chiefs will look much different offensively than fans initially thought entering the year. Hendershot merely represents a dart throw for future impact, yet the franchise remains one step ahead of the rest of the league.
