The Chiefs got excellent news on first-round WR Xavier Worthy's status on Tuesday, as head coach Andy Reid told reporters that Worthy will be a full participant in training camp.

Worthy was held out of the team's mandatory minicamp due to a hamstring injury, raising concern about getting acclimated to the NFL. However, those concerns can be put to bed.

He looked quick and spry in a recent workout video he shared. With training camp officially starting this week, fans should be thrilled to see the speedy rookie on the field with Patrick Mahomes and the rest of the offense.

Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy Will Participate Fully at Training Camp

Worthy and the rest of the rookie class reported to St. Joseph, Missouri, on Tuesday with the quarterbacks. Veterans will trickle in the rest of the week and the organization will report over the next few days with three closed practices before things officially begin on Sunday, July 21.

Since Worthy has had limited time working with the team, his development should be a major priority for the coaching staff. Patrick Mahomes stressed the importance of Worthy being ready to go, and Kansas City's difficult opening schedule means there's no time for a learning period.

He got off to a blazing quick start at Texas, catching 12 TD passes during his true freshman season. Worthy doesn't have to catch double-digit TDs this year, but the coaching staff still has massive expectations for him regardless.

If the Chiefs are going to take control of the AFC early and get off to a hot start in pursuit of a historic third straight Super Bowl, Worthy will play a huge role. We still don't know when or if Rashee Rice will be suspended, giving Worthy's development greater importance.

The organization traded up for the Longhorns star for a reason. In a matter of days, we'll get to truly see his breathtaking athleticism on the field with his new team.
