Chiefs Kingdom can breathe a collective sigh of relief after good news regarding WR Justin Watson's concerning injury that he suffered on Wednesday.

A new video suggested the lower-leg ailment was worse than initially expected, but thankfully it appears Watson will only miss a handful of practices before he's back on the field. Considering how much Patrick Mahomes grew to trust him last year, this represents a huge win for Kansas City's offense.

Instead of being a potential long-term injury, Watson should be back in action next week at training camp.

Chiefs News: WR Justin Watson's Injury Considered Minor

It's a relieving bit of news for Watson and the Chiefs' wide receiver room as a whole. While he's not the most explosive or athletic wideout, Watson's reliability is a major factor that led to the team acquiring a pair of speedsters in the offseason.

Hollywood Brown and Xavier Worthy's skillsets are maximized when you pair them with players like Travis Kelce, Rashee Rice, or even Watson who are reliable threats underneath with the ability to threaten defenses downfield.

The metaphorical alarms rang after Watson went down, given Worthy and Justin Reid's respective injuries early in camp. That he seems to have avoided a serious issue can let fans relax, as there's plenty of time in the summer for things to go wrong.

Pads haven't even come on yet and several players have already went down. Inevitably, more will. The more you can minimize risk early in camp, the better you'll be.

Thankfully, Watson's scare seems to be just that: a scare.
