The Kansas City Chiefs may be without two critical players as they travel to Germany to battle the Miami Dolphins in Week 9.

We already know that star linebacker Nick Bolton won't play. The Chiefs added a pair of key names to the injury list after the Broncos loss on Sunday and early indications don't inspire optimism.

Here's the latest information from today's practice:

Chiefs Get Two Bad Injury Updates

McKinnon battled this same groin injury last week but played 41% of the snaps against Denver. Gay Jr., on the other hand, did not finish the contest after suffering a lower back contusion.

Gay Jr.'s absence would be particularly noteworthy. The Chiefs' linebacking depth is perilously thin with Bolton already on the Injured Reserve List, which is bad news against a Dolphins team that handily leads the NFL in yards per rush attempt (5.9).

Kansas City signed linebacker Darius Harris from the Raiders' practice squad yesterday to prepare for Gay Jr. potentially missing Week 9. Harris started all four games for the Chiefs last season when Gay Jr. was suspended and performed well, totaling 25 tackles and a sack in those matchups.

Richie James' status remains unknown following rumors the Chiefs were shopping him at the trade deadline, though he could slide in as a dependable pass-catcher with return chops should Kansas City activate him.

We'll keep you posted on injury updates as they become available.
