3 Stats That Prove the Chiefs Will Win the Super Bowl
By Joe Summers
The Chiefs have the fifth-best odds to win the 2024 Super Bowl entering the postseason. They take on the Dolphins in the Wild Card round this Saturday in what should be a wildly entertaining matchup with snowy conditions expected.
While some fans and the media in general have soured on Kansas City's chances to hoist another Lombardi Trophy, I feel the Chiefs have as good of a chance as any team to win the Super Bowl.
Let's look at three stats proving the Chiefs will win it all for the second straight year below.
3 Stats Proving the Chiefs Will Win the Super Bowl
1. Scoring Defense
Last year, the Chiefs coincidentally became the first team since 2013 to win the Super Bowl despite finishing outside of the top 10 in scoring defense. Typically, defense does indeed win championships.
Kansas City flatly has one of the very best defenses in the NFL. The Chiefs ranked second in opponent points per game (17.3), behind only the Baltimore Ravens (16.5). That's a recipe for success, especially when you pair it with offensive star power in Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid and Travis Kelce.
Chris Jones, Charles Omenihu, George Karlaftis and Mike Danna make up one of the NFL's most ferocious pass rushes, while standouts like L'Jarius Sneed and Trent McDuffie smother opposing receivers with regularity.
If the Chiefs defense maintains this level of play, it won't need a lot of help from the offense to win. Score just enough points and let the defense get the job done.
These aren't your Chiefs of last year, and it's time for the organization to embrace that.
