2. Latavius Murray, Running Back
A sixth-round pick in 2013 out of Central Florida, Latavius Murray has put together an impressive — and underrated — NFL career. He's been a journeyman who has played for six different teams and has 6,552 yards on the ground with 59 touchdowns and another 1,620 yards and two touchdowns on 239 receptions during that span.
Only once has Murray hit 1,000 yards, which happened in 2015 with the Oakland Raiders as he ran for 1,006 yards and nine touchdowns. Despite that, he's been a model of consistency averaging 4.2 yards per attempt for his career. This past season, he spent 16 games with the Baltimore Ravens and had 300 yards on the ground and 119 through the air. He's approaching his mid-30s but the 6-foot-3, 230-pounder still had four touchdowns and can be a decent short-yardage back in Kansas City.
Isiah Pacheco remains the starter after going for 830 yards and five touchdowns as a rookie followed by 935 yards and seven touchdowns in 2023. He overtook 2020 first-round pick Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who continues to see his numbers fall.
The LSU product had just 223 yards this past season with an average of 3.2 per attempt. He was re-signed to a one-year deal but there's no reason to head into camp without real competition for that spot. Right now, they have undrafted free agent Carson Steele and former rugby star Louis Rees-Zammit (who is still learning how to play in the NFL), but adding a trusted veteran would be a wise move.
