10 Chiefs Entering Their Final Season With Kansas City
8. Travis Kelce, TE
Nobody wants to see Travis Kelce retire soon. Hell, he might not even want to hang up his cleats in the near future.
However, Father Time is undefeated and it's clear that the superstar tight end is closer to the end of his career than the beginning.
Kelce is turning 35 years old in November and while he's still among the NFL's best TEs, he's coming off one of the least productive years of his career. Although he cracked his ninth Pro Bowl roster, the former Cincinnati Bearcat "only" recorded 93 receptions for 984 receiving yards and five touchdowns, which was noticeably down from the previous year's stat line of 110-1,338-12.
Even though Kelce is signed through the 2025 season, we've seen athletes retire before their current contract has expired. Whether it's because of a serious injury or a desire to step away from the gridiron, there's always a chance that Kelce could decide to retire if he wins a third consecutive Lombardi Trophy in February.
Considering how Kelce's brother — Jason — retired at the age of 36 just this offseason, it's a good idea for Chiefs fans to savor as much of No. 87 as they can.
