The Kansas City Chiefs are 11-1 on the season and have a contest against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday Night Football in Week 14.

It was revealed that D.J. Humphries will be making the start at left tackle this week, replacing Wanya Morris. While that is exciting for Chief fans, considering how shaky the tackle play has been in 2024, the Chiefs also got some bad news on Friday.

WR Mecole Hardman suffered an unexpected knee injury during Friday's practice. And things continued to take a turn for the worse on Saturday.

Chiefs News: Mecole Hardman Lands on IR

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Chiefs placed Hardman on injured reserve with a knee injury and signed WR Nikko Remigio to their active roster. When speaking to the reporters on Friday, head coach Andy Reid said that Hardman's "knee locked up on him." Reid added that the injury happened before they even stepped on the field.

Even though Hardman's role in the offense has diminished this season (115 total snaps), the Georgia product has been more utilized on special teams (73 total snaps).

With the 26-year-old on IR, the Chiefs decided to bring Remigio onto the active roster. Remigio didn't make the 53-man roster at the beginning of the season but impressed the coaching staff over the summer. Offensive coordinator Matt Nagy raved about Remigio during training camp.

"Nikko is a prime example of an undrafted free agent that comes in and is an absolute true professional every day in the meeting rooms, every day at practice, it's the same speed [and] it's the same mentality."

During the 2024 preseason, Remigio had 133 yards on four kick returns, 42 yards on two punt returns, and seven catches for 52 yards.

With Hardman gone for at least the next four games, Remigio may get an opportunity to stick around for the playoff run.
