By Joe Summers
Chiefs RB Kareem Hunt scored the game-winning TD in overtime against the Buccaneers in Week 9 and made a surprise reveal after the elating moment.
As Hunt told reporters following the win, it was the first time he scored a game-winner since he was a kid in pee wee football. He finished with 106 rushing yards and now has a score in four straight games, but you could tell this one meant something special to the veteran RB.
He's become one of the most important members of the offense since Kansas City signed him off the street and now, he's got a great chance to win his first Super Bowl ring.
Chiefs RB Kareem Hunt Reveals Importance of Game-Winning TD
Once the Chiefs won the coin toss and started with the ball in overtime, it felt obvious how the game would end. Kansas City calmly marched down the field and scored a TD, giving Hunt his moment.
"I heard the play call and I knew it was only one option, to get in there," Hunt told reporters. "It's pretty much like a walk-off home run. I don't think I've felt that before. It was fun...Game-winning TD, I can't complain."
Neither can fans, who now root for an 8-0 team that looks close to unbeatable. Every single week, the Chiefs come up with big plays when they need them. DeAndre Hopkins was magnificent and Patrick Mahomes avoided a scary injury, so there were all smiles in the locker room on Monday night.
Hunt's reunion has been a key storyline of this exciting season and based on Week 9's results, he's got plenty left in the tank to help this team down the stretch.
