The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Houston Texans 27-19 in a potential preview of a playoff matchup on Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, the Chiefs' terrible injury luck this season continued when Chris Jones went down with 11:54 left in the fourth quarter.

While Jones left the field under his own power, he walked off with a limp. At the time, it was a bit unclear what part of Jones' leg was hurt. However, after the game, head coach Andy Reid clarified that Jones had strained his calf, according to Pete Sweeney.

Even though Jones' sack production hasn't been as high this season, his impact on the Chiefs' defense is still felt. Jones is almost always double-teamed by the opposition, which frees up other defensive linemen to get sacks.

Although, at times, it has felt like the Chiefs have had minimal pass rush this season, Jones' presence in the game is still helpful. Entering Week 16, Jones is ranked as the third-best defensive tackle on PFF, recording 48 QB hurries, 12 QB hits, and six sacks.

Luckily, it seems that Jones avoided a major injury for the Chiefs. Still, this is the price that Chiefs players have to pay for the way the NFL made their schedule this season. Not only were they cursed with an early bye week, but they got handed three games within eleven days in December.

While that's a tough stretch at any point in the season, it's even worse this late because of player fatigue. That said, the Chiefs' latest victory gives them room to drop at least one more game and still get the No.1 seed.

With the Chiefs' next game being on Christmas Day, don't be surprised if Jones doesn't play against the Steelers. That would allow him ten days to rest up and play if he needs to in the season finale.
