Andy Reid Shares Major Hollywood Brown Update Amid Return Rumors
By Joe Summers
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid shared a big Marquise "Hollywood" Brown update after rumors emerged that he'd return sooner than expected.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Reid suggested Brown could be back in the near future, commenting that he's making great progress in his rehab from a shoulder injury suffered during the preseason.
If Kansas City gets Brown back before the playoffs, which looks increasingly likely, the offense will be in great shape for the games that truly matter.
Andy Reid Shares Big Hollywood Brown Injury Update
Reid sounded generally optimistic about Brown's progress. "He's another one who's excited to get out there and get going" said the future Hall of Fame coach, which makes sense considering that Brown is only on a one-year deal.
Brown needs to prove himself to earn a big contract in the offseason. He joined Kansas City on a one-year deal hoping to showcase his value in a similar way that JuJu Smith-Schuster initially did, though the injury obviously derailed things.
This is a team in desperate need of the skillset that Brown has. He's got incredible speed and an ability to generate chunk gains after the catch. Xavier Worthy theoretically fills the same role, though the Chiefs haven't been able to utilize him properly to this point.
Having multiple deep threats is better than having one, so Brown and Worthy could potentially form a devastating duo on the outside with Travis Kelce hanging around underneath. Giving Patrick Mahomes several talented receivers is always a good idea, so this is trememdous news all around.
Based on these reports, we'll soon finally see Brown on the field with the two-time defending Super Bowl champions.
