7 Most Disappointing Chiefs Despite 5-0 Start

Even though the Kansas City Chiefs are 5-0, the 2024 season has been far from perfect. These seven players have been the most disappointing Chiefs through five games.

The Kansas City Chiefs remained undefeated in Week 5 with a massive 26-13 win over the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football. The Chiefs will now head into their bye week with a perfect 5-0 record before returning to action against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 7.

While the Chiefs have given their plans plenty to cheer about to begin the 2024 NFL season, things haven't exactly been flawless. Kansas City still has several issues it must solve and things are made worse when certain players aren't performing up to their potential.

With that in mind, here are the seven most disappointing Chiefs despite the team's 5-0 start to the season.

1. Travis Kelce, TE

Travis Kelce is one of the most popular Chiefs players of all time, but that doesn't change the fact that his 2024 performance has been lacking.

The 12th-year tight end is averaging a career-low 45.6 receiving yards per game and has yet to find the end zone through five appearances. He's also averaging only 4.8 receptions on a career-low 7.4 targets per game, potentially indicating that he's slowly falling out of favor in Kansas City's offense.

Kelce has begun to turn things around with 16 catches and 159 receiving yards in his last two games, however, that isn't enough to erase the disappointment. The former Cincinnati product must string together similar performances going forward if he wants to escape any regression allegations.

The Chiefs need Kelce in top form if they want to pull off the first-ever Super Bowl three-peat in history — especially now that No. 1 wideout Rashee Rice's season is likely over. He's proven that he can still take over a game, and Kansas City hopes he keeps those recent efforts going.
