3 Chiefs Who Will Be Cut Without a Strong Second Half of Season

These three Kansas City Chiefs could be at risk of being cut in the offseason if they don't manage to have strong performances in the second half of the 2024 NFL campaign.

3. Wanya Morris, LT

If you've been following the Chiefs this season, you know that the left tackle position has been one of the team's weakest areas. Kingsley Suamataia struggled as the starting LT to begin the season, however, that was somewhat expected given his status as a rookie.

What's been even more disappointing is Wanya Morris' play.

With Suamataia not yet ready for a starting role, the Chiefs turned back to Morris — a former third-round pick from 2023. Instead of stepping up when his team needed him, the 24-year-old blocker has provided inadequate protection as he's allowed 19 total pressures on 272 passing downs, playing a role in his PFF offense grade of 56.4 — 62nd among 76 eligible offensive tackles.

Protecting Patrick Mahomes is imperative to the Chiefs' success, meaning Morris has to find a way to improve his performance. Failing to do so could see the franchise kick him to the curb in the offseason, especially since Suamataia still has decent upside despite his first-year struggles.

Besides, the Chiefs can also save around $1.2 million if they trade/release Morris after June 1 of next year.
