3. Jaden Hicks, DB
Jaden Hicks is another Chief who's making his Super Bowl debut this weekend. Although the former Washington State defensive back's rookie campaign started slowly, his opportunities increased as the schedule progressed, proven by his averaging 50.5 defensive snaps from Weeks 15 to 18 compared to the 9.8 he averaged in his first 13 outings.
By the time the regular season ended, Hicks finished with 23 solo tackles, five broken-up passes, and three interceptions in 17 games. The 22-year-old safety has since racked up seven solo tackles in Kansas City's first two postseason contests, playing exactly 50 defensive snaps in each appearance.
Hicks now enters Super Bowl 59 with grades of 73.0 for overall defense and 70.8 for tackling, which ranks 20th- and 19th-best, respectively, among eligible safeties on PFF.
With the Eagles boasting aerial weapons such as A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, the Chiefs need Hicks to keep being reliable in the secondary. Kansas City can't afford to give Philadelphia's top playmakers any breathing room, meaning it'll be up to the 2024 fourth-rounder to lead by example.
