Round 2: Pick 63 – Jabril Cox, LB (LSU)

If there’s another position that needs major help, it’s the linebacker spot. This has been a position the Chiefs have struggled to find talent at since Derrick Johnson was released after the 2017 season and the Super Bowl put the linebacker issues on full display, as the Bucs breezed past the Chiefs’ linebackers with ease.

Kansas City will return Willie Gay, Anthony Hitchens, and Ben Niemann in 2021, but Niemann showed in 2020 that he has no business starting in the NFL. Drafting another linebacker in the second round would be a good plan by KC and Jabril Cox could provide an excellent player to their defense.

Cox spent the first three years of his collegiate career at North Dakota State before playing his final year of eligibility at LSU. He finished his lone season with the Tigers totaling 58 tackles (6.5 for loss), five defended passes, three interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), and one sack.

Ideally, the Chiefs should target a linebacker who’s better against the run, but Cox is a promising prospect for sure.
