The KC Chiefs could use depth along the offensive line and the most recent CBS Sports mock draft has them addressing the o-line.

For anyone who watched Super Bowl LV, it was obvious that the Kansas City Chiefs‘ offensive line was not good. While there are reasons as to why they performed so poorly, it has been an area of concern for quite some time now and the Chiefs have managed to get past it okay… That is until they couldn’t squeak by anymore.

Because of that performance, the pressure will be on for the Chiefs to find offensive line upgrades and that’s why Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports linking KC to an o-lineman in his latest mock draft is perfectly fine with fans. Trapasso had the Chiefs selecting Clemson offensive tackle Jackson Carman with the No. 31 pick.

"Carman is a mountain of a man with high upside. He’s the type the Chiefs need on their offensive line."

While Carman played tackle at Clemson, The Draft Network says he’d probably be a better fit at guard in the pros.

"Where Carman shows signs of struggles is when he is tasked with speed off the edge. In those moments, Carman is often beat to his landmarks and he struggles to recover. Should that be problematic at the next level, a move to guard will be required and Carman’s skill set suggests it’s a transition he could handle—and perhaps he can perform even better on the inside. Carman has the makings of a quality starter at the next level, but his team will need to figure out the right spot for him to grow and develop at."

Doesn’t this sound like the kind of offensive lineman that Andy Reid loves to draft? The last time they took an o-lineman early on in the draft was when they selected Mitch Morse in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft and Morse was as versatile as they come along the line.

Jackson Carman to the Kansas City Chiefs would be a match made in heaven.

Carman looks to be someone who the Chiefs could plug and play in different spots and that’s exactly what this offensive line needs right now. With the Chiefs’ tackles’ futures up in the air, perhaps Carman could try one of the two tackle positions and see if he’s up to the task and if not, left guard could be calling his name.

If the Chiefs come out of the 2021 NFL Draft with their left guard of the future — a position that has proved difficult for them to fill — they’ll be set up for success for quite a while. It’s time for the Chiefs to really be aggressive in improving the offensive line and Jackson Carman would be a nice addition to this unit moving forward.
