Chiefs news has been focused around Eric Bieniemy a lot recently, but now it’s not for something good, as it’s looking like he’ll be passed on for a head coaching position once again.

It seemed like a guarantee that Bieniemy would be hired as a head coach for the 2021 season. It started off on a good note, with him receiving interview requests from five of the six teams in need of a head coach next season during the Kansas City Chiefs’ bye week.

Well, since then, three of those teams have hired their next head coach and another is heavily linked to someone (the Chargers to Brian Daboll). That leaves the Lions, Texans, and Eagles with remaining head coach openings and despite not requesting an interview with him initially, Houston has reached out but will have to wait until Bieniemy and the Chiefs’ season comes to an end. The Eagles have also put in an interview request with Bieniemy.

Bieniemy has proven that he can run an offense and if he’s passed on for a head coach job once again, that’d just be really unfortunate for the Chiefs offensive coordinator. He’s worked hard to get to this point and it’s just surprising that he hasn’t landed a gig at the next level yet.

Here’s what’s trending in Chiefs news from around FanSided.

"Yet at this point, all momentum for all parties seems to be fading—even for Bieniemy. That’s not to say that changes aren’t coming—and for Bieniemy’s sake, we certainly hope he garners the new job that he clearly deserves with someone—but at this point, it feels as if the tide is turning away from anyone Chiefs affiliated with the Chiefs."

It’d be a real shame if Bieniemy didn’t get the job he deserves this offseason, but at the same time, Chiefs Kingdom would be ecstatic to have him back and running the offense in the 2021 season. He still has interviews with the Eagles and Texans, so a head coach job is still there for the taking.
