Fantasy Football: Top 15 defenses/special teams to target in 2020
Fantasy Football Defenses/Special Teams to Target – Number 1: 49ers
The top ranked defense and special teams unit heading into the 2020 season is the 49ers, who rode their smothering defense all the way to the Super Bowl this past season. While they couldn’t stop the Chiefs in the final seven minutes of the game to secure their first championship in two decades, the Niners are fortunate to have virtually the same group return in 2020.

Nick Bosa, Arik Armstead, Richard Sherman, Jimmie Ward, and Dee Ford are all returning in 2020 and while the loss of DeForest Buckner is big, those aforementioned names keep this unit at the top of the pack.
San Francisco finished the 2019 season second best in yards allowed and should continue to get better, especially with Bosa only going into year two.
The 49ers and Steelers are the two best options defensively in fantasy football this year and you can’t go wrong with either one, but because of where this defense was able to take the Niners last year, they were my pick for the top spot. Draft them as early as you have to to ensure you get a top tier defense on your team.

There you have it! The top 15 defenses to target in fantasy football this year.
As mentioned on the opening slide, defenses can make or break your fantasy squad. You can luck into finding a diamond in the rough (anyone who took the 49ers last year can attest to this), but sometimes the defenses we expected to be dominant take a step backwards (Bears owners last year know this story all too well).
Hopefully this list helps you when it comes to deciding which defenses to target and when to look into drafting them.
Good luck, fantasy owners!
