BOPETE KEYES, CB – TULANE (ROUND 7, PICK 237)

Trading with the Titans to get back into the draft in the seventh round. With a clear need at cornerback, the Chiefs drafted Thakarius Keyes – also known as BoPete Keyes – with the purpose of giving him the chance to compete for a job at corner and give them several players to choose from.

More from Chiefs Draft Analysis

Being named an Honorable Mention All-American Athletic Conference selection as a senior while with the Tulane Green Wave, Keyes started all 13 games and logged 47 tackles, five passes broken up and one interception.

Keyes could be a viable corner, but the competition for the position is starting to be fierce, as his fellow drafted teammate L’Jarius Sneed is likely competing for the same position.

Keyes might be a project for the Chiefs, and may serve as a reliable backup if certain situations were to arise, but between the Chiefs current starters at the corner position and the competition of Sneed, I don’t believe Keyes will see the field much for the defense.
