KC Chiefs: Nine prospects to target on Day 3 of 2020 NFL Draft
By John McCarty
The KC Chiefs – as of now – only have two selections on the third day of the 2020 NFL Draft, but hopefully they can come out of this day with a contributor or maybe even two.
The Kansas City Chiefs, after addressing depth along their offensive line and at linebacker on Friday, enter the final day of the draft in a curious position in that they really had few true needs, but have added youth and depth at position groups that needed that.
Perhaps no position group stands out more untouched than corner, where there are major question marks beyond the starters.
With that in mind, a few names I’m keeping an eye on for today, and we will see what happens.
Lavert Hill, CB, Michigan:
Undersized corner with good ball skill and strong athleticism, but can be grabby at times. Good turn and run abilities to play inside or outside.
Javaris Davis, CB, Auburn:
Another undersized corner, good ball skills, inconsistent tackler, but has quickness and speed – like a lot of it. He is really fast.
Stanford Samuels, CB, Florida State:

Good size cornerback with strong ball skills who ran a really slow (4.65) 40 yard dash at the combine. Does he play at that speed?
Kindle Vildor, CB, Georgia Southern:
Has good size and is a nice developmental prospect, but isn’t likely ready to take on a major role in the defense in the first year. Could be intriguing for KC.
Curtis Weaver, DE, Boise State:
Surprised that he’s still on the board here and it’s doubtful he is on the board when Chiefs pick in round four unless they trade up to grab him. Good pass rusher that lacks the twitch and burst of elite sack artists.
Bradlee Anae, DE, Utah:
Team captain and hard working defensive end, Anae is stuck in the not quite tall enough/heavy enough to truly be a special prospect.
Alton Robinson, DE, Syracuse:
Needs help with developing the finer intricacies of pass rushing, but solid effort player that can play the run and will get in the backfield.
James Proche, WR, SMU:
Undersized slot type receiver with some speed and experience on special teams. Played in an open offense at SMU that required him to play inside and outside, left side and right side.
John Hightower, WR, Boise State:
A favorite developmental prospect of mine, a good combination of size, speed and potential. Has returned kicks in Boise. Could make noise, with coaching and patience, in a year or two.

I expect both picks today to go toward defense, but if the right player isn’t there, look for the possibility of a wide receiver. The fourth round and maybe even the fifth will have strong contributors in their careers.
Can the KC Chiefs find the right one?
