Kansas City Chiefs bolster offensive line in 2020 NFL Mock Draft
With just five picks in the 2020 NFL Draft, the KC Chiefs have to figure out what the most important positions are to address.
In this mock draft, they decided to spend two of their five selections on offensive linemen. One of the picks was LSU center Lloyd Cushenberry III, who would compete for the starting center job in 2020. He’s one of the top centers in this year’s draft, so him falling to the Chiefs in the second round would have an outrageous steal.

The other offensive linemen they added in this mock was Darryl Williams out of Mississippi State, who would serve as a swing o-lineman. He spent a lot of time at left guard in college, but also has the ability to play at other spots along the line. He’s not a starting option, but swing linemen usually aren’t because their role is to plug and play.
The other three picks were on the defensive side of the ball, as KC went with a defensive lineman in Neville Gallimore, an edge defender in Darrell Taylor, and a cornerback in Kindle Vildor. These are all positions that the Chiefs need to look at upgrading or adding depth at this offseason.
With a player like Patrick Mahomes, the priority for the Kansas City Chiefs over the next decade needs to be protecting him at all costs. Bolstering the offensive line is the best way to do that.
While Williams might not be a long-term option, Cushenberry could be a great addition to the line and the Chiefs could continue to draft young, promising linemen over the next few years to help keep Mahomes up right.
