With less than two months to go until the 2020 NFL Draft and the combine currently underway, there’s still a lot we don’t know about prospects in the draft.

In this particular draft, however, the Kansas City Chiefs opt to focus on the defensive side of the ball with their five selections. The hope is that they acquire more draft picks between now and April – and if that means they have to trade out of the first round AGAIN, then so be it – but for now, they have five picks and that’s it.

More from Chiefs Draft Analysis

The Chiefs added one offensive player in this draft – J.K. Dobbins – and that move might drive some fans crazy. Running back isn’t the position it once was and as a result, teams feel comfortable with waiting until the draft is over and grabbing talent there.

Someone like Dobbins would make the Chiefs absolutely DEADLY on offense because it’d give them that added element of having a run game – Something they didn’t really have last season and somehow still won the Super Bowl. Imagine how good they’d be with that element on their team.

As for the other four picks, it was all defense. The Chiefs improved immensely on that side of the ball in 2019, but they might lose Chris Jones, Bashaud Breeland, and Kendall Fuller this offseason and those three were pivotal in the turnaround, so finding replacements for those guys is crucial.
