Fourth and Fifth Round Targets

The Chiefs’ fourth and fifth-round picks are going to be lumped together for the purpose of this article. At this time of the year, it is hard to judge where anyone will go in the draft, but it gets increasingly difficult as it gets deeper into the draft, so these will just be general fourth round and beyond targets for the Chiefs.

1. Albert Okwuegbunam, TE Mizzou

Albert Okwuegbunam has the size, strength, and athleticism teams dream about for their starting tight end. With Drew Lock in his freshman year, he was the ultimate red zone threat and had double-digit touchdowns. He needs to work on his blocking, but could you imagine him developing under Kelce and catching passes from Patrick Mahomes?

2. Yasir Durant, G Mizzou

Let’s stick with Mizzou here for our second late-round target. Hunt and Kindley were mentioned earlier as a couple of big offensive linemen to target and Yasir Durant is even bigger. At 6’7″ and 330 pounds, he’s not only big and strong, but also very mobile and capable of being used on pulls. He is also versatile and can play guard or tackle. I love this guy as a late-round target to help protect Mahomes.

3. McTelvin Agim, DT Arkansas

McTelvin Agim reminds me a lot of Khalen Saunders. He is a big, former five-star interior defensive lineman whose biggest strength actually isn’t his strength, but rather his athleticism. He can rush the passer from the inside – but like Saunders – needs to learn to not always rely on athleticism and sometimes using his strength instead. Either way, a defensive tackle has to be on the Chiefs’ radar in case we have to prepare for life without Chris Jones.

4. John Hightower, WR Boise State

John Hightower is a tall target who is very shifty and can rack up yards after the catch. Hightower has good footwork and runs routes efficiently. He will need to put on some weight to have success at the next level, but he would be a great player to replace Demarcus Robinson and Sammy Watkins if needed without losing size and after the catch threats.

5. Lamar Jackson, CB Nebraska

Wouldn’t it be nice to have a Lamar Jackson making plays for the Chiefs rather than against them? Lamar Jackson the cornerback is really a solid player all around and I honestly don’t know if he will still be around in round four, but if he is, the Chiefs could get a cornerback with great size and good length, athleticism, and coverage skills. Jackson really doesn’t even have a glaring weakness to me (not saying he’s perfect, just no big red flags).

Recap

As you can see, this draft big board focused a lot on cornerbacks, linebackers, and interior offensive linemen. Those are the biggest current needs for Kansas City, so those are the players I have been looking into the most right now. As the offseason progresses and other needs are identified, my big board will diversify.

For now, these are some prospects that the Chiefs could consider drafting to help improve their roster in hopes of returning to the Super Bowl next season. Another Super Bowl will only be possible if the Chiefs continue to improve.

These guys could help improve the roster for next season. What do you guys think of my big board?
