It’s mock draft season and NFL.com was nice enough to provide us with a three round mock draft that saw the KC Chiefs get a downright steal in round two. If Kristian Fulton fell to the second round, Chiefs fans would be thrilled.

Chad Reuter of NFL.com released his three-round mock draft and in it, the Kansas City Chiefs land three players who could contribute immediately in the 2020 season. The biggest name, however, isn’t the name they take in the first round, but the fact that they somehow landed LSU cornerback Kristian Fulton in the second round.

Fulton – who helped LSU win the National Championship this past season – is mostly being linked as a first round target and would be someone that if he were available at pick 32, the Chiefs would be idiots not to take him there. He had 14 passes defensed and held his own against the best of the best at wide receiver in the SEC.

In the first round, the Chiefs opted to pass on Fulton at pick 32 and instead go with running back D’Andre Swift out of Georgia. If this happened in real life – the Chiefs passing on a cornerback as talented as Fulton to take a running back – there would be riots in the streets of Kansas City.

Don’t get me wrong, Swift is talented, but running back isn’t as important of a position as it used to be and should not be something the Chiefs address in the first round. Swift had 1,218 rushing yards and seven touchdowns this past season with Georgia, but injuries have been a problem for the Bulldog back and would be reason enough not to risk taking him in the first round.

In the third round, the KC Chiefs selected Larrell Murchison of NC State. The 6’3″ and nearly 300 pound defensive tackle notched 48 tackles and seven sacks this past year for the Wolfpack. If the Chiefs end up losing Chris Jones, bringing in someone like Murchison would be a smart move.

Taking a running back in the first round of the draft isn’t something I’m for, but if it somehow means the Chiefs can land Kristian Fulton in the second round, then sure, sign me up for that. Fulton would immediately be able to step in and fill the void likely left by Bashaud Breeland.

What do you think of Chad Reuter’s three-round mock? Would you be okay with these three players coming to Kansas City?
